Blogosphere, Journalism
and Source Confidentiality

Changes that Seduce and Startle

This is probably the most sensible turf we step upon, because bloggers have been accused of trying to take journalistic functions without the conditions to assure the credibility of the news they publish.

However, there are visible differences between the role of the blogosphere in a country like Portugal, where there is a free press, and territories like Iran or China, where several censorial mechanisms still exist.

Therefore, it is of most convenience to analyse some situations that led to the stirring of the controversy, like the case of the blog “Do Portugal Profundo” or the critical example of Apple vs. Does, in the USA, which at least had the advantage of showing the kind of arguments that can be used in this sort of conflict.
