Everything Goes to Get to the Source
Four Years of Attacks in the Five Continents

The summoning of journalists to court is the most flagrant form of pressure to try and break a journalist's promise of confidentiality to a source, but there are other ways, and it is important to reflect about their frequency and consequences.

The searches in newsrooms, the questioning of journalists, the postal interception, the phone tapping and videovigilance are other ways of trying to get to the sources that reporters wish to maintain secret.

The resort to these practices has led to debate in several international organizations, whose reports denote a growing aprehension regarding the guarantees that can be offered to sources. This has also caused legislative changes in many countries, another of the issues brought up in this chapter.
